Comunidades.ec
In development
Comunidades.ec is a local community platform for Ecuador that helps people find and share jobs, services, housing, things for sale, businesses, announcements, and other useful local information, all centered on the community where they live.
Today that information tends to be scattered across Facebook groups, WhatsApp messages, signs, word of mouth, and specialized websites. Comunidades.ec brings it together in one place, organized around each local community.
It is not a nationwide classifieds site or simply a jobs board. The community is the product; jobs, housing, buying and selling, services, and announcements are the services available within it.
More than classifieds, it is about connection: finding work, offering a service, renting a home, selling something, discovering a local business, or simply learning what is happening nearby. The goal is to create a genuinely useful digital home for each community and make that model repeatable across Ecuador.
One platform, many communities
We are not building a separate website for every town. Comunidades.ec is one platform capable of supporting many communities: each has its own address and presents its own local content.

Local first, but not isolated
Comunidades.ec knows which community you are viewing and makes it the natural context for the application. Instead of opening a generic nationwide marketplace and filtering everything down to Sígsig, you enter the Sígsig community first and explore jobs, services, housing, things for sale, businesses, and announcements from there.
Communities are not walls: when it makes sense, you can look at nearby communities or broaden your search.
Built for participation, not just browsing
Comunidades.ec is not a read-only directory. With an account, people can:
- Create listings with photos
- Save listings they are interested in
- Contact the person who posted, including by WhatsApp
- Apply or respond where appropriate
- Receive notifications
- Manage their own activity
A small business can take part, as can someone looking for an employee, someone renting out an apartment, someone selling something, or someone who simply needs a plumber: people in a community helping, finding, and connecting with other people in that community.
Accessible to everyone
No one needs to understand the technology behind it. Simply visit Comunidades.ec in a browser, or install it as a progressive web app (PWA) on a phone or computer and use it like any other app.
We are also building the native Comunidades app, starting with Android and followed by other platforms. The website and the app share much of the same interface and functionality: for the people using it, it is all just Comunidades.
